Day 01: Arrival in Colombo / Transfer to Negombo / Relax at the Beach / Overnight in Negombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to Negombo, a charming seaside town ideal for a gentle start to your holiday. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or enjoying a boat ride through the tranquil lagoon. The evening is free to unwind and adjust to the tropical rhythm of island life.

After breakfast, travel inland to Sigiriya, located in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where ancient frescoes and landscaped gardens reveal stories of a royal past. Return to your family friendly lodge for a refreshing swim or evening at leisure.

Start the morning with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with centuries old murals and statues. Later, take part in a village experience that includes a bullock cart ride, traditional cooking, and a scenic lake visit, fun and interactive for both children and adults. Relax in the evening and enjoy the peaceful countryside surroundings.

Today’s journey takes you to Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. Explore its royal palaces, temples, and the remarkable stone carvings of Gal Vihara. In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle village walk or cycling tour before returning to your nearby accommodation for a restful night.

Drive through scenic hill country roads to reach Kandy, the island’s cultural capital. Visit the Temple of the Tooth, one of Buddhism’s most sacred sites, and take part in an evening cultural show featuring Kandyan drumming and traditional dance. End the day with a relaxed stroll around Kandy Lake.

Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, a beautiful space filled with orchids, palms, and exotic plants. Continue to explore Kandy city, visiting local markets, craft shops, and cafés. The rest of the day is free for leisure, ideal for families who want a slower pace.

Enjoy one of the world’s most scenic train rides from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, passing tea plantations and misty peaks. On arrival, explore the colonial charm of Nuwara Eliya, known as “Little England,” with its tidy gardens and lakeside walks. Evening at leisure in the cool mountain air.

This morning, visit a tea plantation to see how world famous Ceylon tea is grown and produced. Take part in a tasting session and enjoy the fresh aromas of the highlands. Spend the afternoon at Gregory Lake, where families can go boating or simply enjoy the calm surroundings.

Rise early for an excursion to Horton Plains National Park, an ecosystem of rolling grasslands and forest trails. Hike together to the dramatic viewpoint known as World’s End and spot native wildlife along the way. Return to your hotel for a relaxing afternoon in the cool climate.

After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Ella, a charming hill town surrounded by green valleys and waterfalls. Stop at Ravana Falls to enjoy the view and the refreshing mist of the cascade. Spend the evening exploring Ella’s cafés and local craft shops.

Begin your day with a short hike up Little Adam’s Peak, an easy trail with rewarding panoramic views of the Ella Gap. Later, visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, where you might catch a train crossing the lush valley. The rest of the day is free for family relaxation or exploration.

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Ella, perfect for slow exploration or family time. Take an optional village walk, visit a nearby spice garden, or relax at your hotel with mountain views. As evening sets in, enjoy a warm local meal together.

Depart Ella and journey back toward Colombo, descending from the hills through tea country and farmland. On arrival, explore some of Colombo’s highlights such as Independence Square, Galle Face Green, or Pettah Market. Enjoy your final night in the city with a family dinner.

After breakfast, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight. Leave Sri Lanka with wonderful memories of shared adventures, laughter, and discovery across the island’s most captivating landscapes.
